The apex Mbaise youth socio-cultural association, Mbaise Youths Congress has queued behind the lines of Mbaise socio-cultural groups that supports the declaration of Deacon Sam Onwuemedo as persona non grata in Mbaise by Aboh Mbaise Traditional Rulers. Deacon Onwuemedo is the former Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha.
Recall that penultimate week, the Aboh Mbaise Counsel of Traditional Rulers led by His Royal Highness, Eze Cosmas Onyeneke held a meeting at the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Headquarters where the passed the resolution declaring Deacon Onwuemedo persona non grata. According to the Royal Fathers, the resolution was necessary due to the unprofessional and unethical manner with which Deacon Onwuemedo, who is also a journalist, had been attacking his kinsman, and another Mbaise son, Gov Emeka Ihedioha.
A few days later, the Mbaise League of Professionals in a press statement signed by the Chairman, Mike Akubueze (Asaigbo) and the Secretary Prince Declan Anosike (Aliu Ghana), backed the resolution of the Traditional Rulers. However they went ahead to ban the sales of Deacon Onwuemedo’s White Paper Newspaper and also advised Mbaise indigenes against patronizing the paper.

MBAISE YOUTHS CONGRESS (MYC) SUPPORTS THE DECLARATION OF SAM ONWUEMEDO AS PERSONA NON GRATA IN MBAISE
–Warns Vendors To Stop Sales Of White Paper Newspaper All Over Mbaise And Advises Mbaise Sons And Daughters Against Patronizing White Paper Newspapers.
Mbaise Youths Congress have keenly observed the unjustified attempts by our prodigal elder brother, Deacon Sam Onwuemedo, to sabotage the god-given opportunity, to the Mbaise nation in particular and Owerri Zone at large, to produce the Executive Governor of this State at this auspicious time. This he has consciously implemented through several unprofessional and unethical publications against our highly esteemed brother, His Excellency, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, Executive Governor of Imo State.
Although we concede to the fact that the right to Freedom of Expression is guaranteed under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ( as amended), yet we are also aware that such rights should be exercised within the armbits of the Law. A legal maxim says, ” ones right stops where the right of others begin “. In other words, no one is allowed to trample on the rights of others, while exercising their own right.
Mbaise people have been known to have produced so many seasoned professionals in many fields, both home and abroad. Unfortunately, none of them have been seen or heard bringing disrepute to their profession or disgracing the Mbaise nation, the way and manner Deacon Onwuemedo has been doing. As a result, the Mbaise Youths Congress have decided to take necessary actions to curb this cancerous misadventure of Deacon Onwuemedo.
Consequently, we hereby align with the earlier Press Release issued by our sister Association, the Mbaise League of Professionals supporting the declaration of Deacon Sam Onwuemedo persona non grata in Mbaise Land. In addition to the above resolutions by Aboh Mbaise Traditional Rulers against our prodigal son, Deacon Sam Onwuemedo, Mbaise Youths Congress hereby advise every Newspaper vendor in Mbaise to stop the sales of White Paper Newspapers all over Mbaise. Every Mbaise son and daughter are also advised not to patronise the said newspaper till further notice.
Any Mbaise person or vendor who does otherwise shall be counted a saboteur along with Deacon Sam Onwuemedo.
A word indeed, is enough for the wise!!!

Efforts to reach Deacon Onwuemedo to get his own side of the story proved abortive as his mobile phone remained unreachable.
